BBIP Board members hosted Ibu Dewi Gustina Tobing, our much loved outgoing Indonesian Consul General in Perth, to a farewell dinner at Tempayan Indonesian restaurant in Nedlands on August 9. Pak Rian, Ibu Dewi’s secretary, also attended.
Ibu Dewi, a fierce warrior for Bahasa Indonesia and Kebudayan Indonesia, has been Indonesian Consul General in Perth for three and a half years. She has been a great friend and supporter of BBIP in many ways.
Pak Leon, our Chairperson, spoke of how Ibu Dewi had inspired him to join the BBIP when she spoke of building trust between future generations through youth activities. Our Immediate Past Chairperson, Ibu Karen Bailey, spoke about collaboration between KJRI and BBIP to address issues.
Ibu Dewi goes on to a new posting as Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka. We wish her well in her new role. She retains tangible connections with WA with a son and daughter studying here. BBIP wishes Ibu Dewi well and looks forward to welcoming her again to Perth whenever she can visit.
