It was magic! Michael J played 2 concerts in 2 cities in 2 countries simultaneously. One thousand students from 20 WA schools raised the roof of The Lakes Theatre at Mandurah Baptist College as Michael, Deon and Toni rocked the songs students had been studying in their Indonesian classes.
BBIP's schools' concert on 8 August was enjoyed just as much by another thousand excited students in Surabaya, East Java, via a simulcast link. It was the first time a concert had been streamed live from Australia to Indonesia. Students in Perth and in Surabaya greeted each other and the WA audience responded enthusiastically to a request for 'a traditional Australian song' with a rousing rendition of Waltzing Matilda.
The Surabaya audience experienced the concert streamed from The Lakes Theatre, Lakelands, WA.
It was a memorable and appropriate way for BBIP to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the sister-state relationship between WA and Jatim (Java Timur/East Java). News reports were carried in Pojok Pitu and Bhirawa Online .
