"Into Indonesia" Again!

Kate Reitzenstein - Friday, September 27, 2013

The second Balai Bahasa Into Indonesia Study Tour is about to depart. There are only two sleeps to go but still there is so much to do with a Fremantle Dockers win in tomorrow's AFL Grand Final against Hawthorn at the top of the list!

This year's study tour will visit Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Pasuruan and Bali in 13 days, from 29th September-12th October, 2013.  During that time we will be visiting schools, government departments, famous sites and landmarks and engaging in the Indonesian culture.  The aim of the tour is to help our school leaders expand their knowledge and understanding about Indonesia and people so that they are well positioned to support the Indonesian language programs in their schools.

This years delegation will involve seven school leaders representing all education sectors in Western Australia and will be accompanied by two board members of the Balai Bahasa Indonesia Perth, Kate Reitzenstein and Lisa Woodward, as well as Ibu Ririn, Vice-Consul from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, Perth. We are also very fortunate to have retired Consul of the Consulate of the General of the Republic of Indonesia, Pak Syari Sakidin, accompany this year's group.

A lot will happening in Indonesia while we are there including Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott's first overseas visit since his inauguration and the APEC Economic Leaders Week in Bali. October also marks "Bulan Bahasa Indonesia",  Indonesian Language Month, and the 2nd October is National Batik Day.

We will keep you posted of our activities and experiences via this blog.
